Hello September!

So just like that, summer draws to an end.

It's been a glorious summer. I know, I know, it's my crush you say. But it's not just the crush. In fact, it's not The Exchange at all. It's what the crush was instrumental to. It helped me tap into that good place that makes me feel optimistic and that possibilities for happiness are endless. It is always how we look at things.

So here we sit at the cusp of Summer and Fall this weekend and The Boy, The Man and I are about to go off in three different directions, all of which will enrich our lives, keep us tight as a family, and give us tremendous freedom and independence.

The Boy has been ramping up for school. This year, he will be exploring university options. He will need to settle down and get his grades up.

The Man is pursuing some leads for his next assignment. This is always so full of promise and excitement, yet so wrought with frustration and anxiety.

Me, I am resolved to resume my art work, stay in shape, and obtain paid work, at least part time. Today, I am imagining my own secret hideaway: a farm with a stone house, a field of wild flowers on a hill, a river at the bottom of the hill. My studio is here and I come here to draw, paint, and write.

So let's see what unfolds.

Whether you have children or not, September truly is the beginning of a new year. Sure we have December 31st, but we all went to school at sometime, and September was/is a sign of a new start.

As an adult I always look forward to school starting. And I'm not just talking about the kids getting out of my hair, which is a bonus, but also because for me it's a time to get my life back on track.

Slyph, I can easily relate to your enthusiaism. After having so many lazy summer days, many camping trips and other away-from-home activities, the house is in dyer need of some attention. I'm going to ride the train of energy and get this place in order. Not to mention that I have been given a part-time job, I'm embarking on my photography again (a little). How can I not look forward to the "New Year"? And just for the hell of it, I'm trowing in some regular exercise!

Cheers to you Slyph and I look forward to hearing about your secret artist retreat.

I agree. September seems to be a new beginning for me as well. I've started 3 new jobs in my life on the Tuesday after Labour Day.

The fun of summer is winding down and it's time for your life to get "back to normal". It's a time to look forward to the autumn season and prepare for the harsher winter months ahead. But it's invigorating and there's renewal in the air.

Yup! Life is mighty fine.

Today we have been to Le Paradis, and we enjoyed it. Also saw a nice subject for you to paint, Brunswick Ave number 61, I would like to buy it ,but my wife said too much work and she don't want to live in Canada, what the works concerns I agree, but like the street and the house.
Tango Palace was very nice too.

Welcome to Canada, Fryslan! Do you find Toronto much changed much since 1968?

Will you be taking in any films at the Toronto International Film Festival? It runs Sept 6 to 15.

Have you seen the Royal Ontario Museum yet? What do you think of the new addition, the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal? it opened in June. The Man and The Exchange saw it and thought it was ugly. I have not been yet.

When you get to Montreal, go to Schwartz at 3895 Saint-Laurent Boulevard for a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich. Also go to St-Viateur Bagel, home of the Montreal bagel.

I will go see your house at 61 Brunswick.
